What Tuition Covers
Tuition covers five hours per
weekday of individual instruction. Also included is seven
days of room and board and three meals per day with a local family.
Residence accommodations will include private sleeping room, sterilized or
bottled drinking water, and warm bathing water. Residence weeks
normally run from Sunday through Saturday, and teaching weeks from Monday
to Friday. Students wishing to begin residence or teaching weeks on
other days may do so, however, with an adjusted per diem payment schedule
designed to ensure fair compensation to teachers and family.
Registration
Fee
Centro Maya charges a $40 per student
registration fee to help offset the cost of internet presence, telephone
communication, postage and shipping, and print advertising. As the
name implies, this is a "fee" rather than a "deposit," and will not be
applied to tuition. Registration cannot be completed until the fee is
received.
Payment of
Fees
Centro Maya Xela accepts payment in the
form of U.S. dollars, Guatemalan quetzales, or travelers checks drawn in
U.S. dollars.
The first week's tuition plus registration fee MUST be paid in advance of arrival. Subsequent study or residence weeks
may be paid on Thursday or Friday of the previous week. Normally,
administrators prefer not to collect tuition beyond one week in
advance. This is not a hard and fast rule, however, so that
recipients of grants or employees of an organization who must pay by
purchase order or business check made out to Centro Maya may do so.
The school should be contacted in advance in this case.
You may pay additional weeks of tuition by credit card however, there is a $10.00 extra fee PER WEEK on all tuition payments made by credit card.

These are official paid Holidays. Tuition is NOT prorated for these holidays.

School Hours
Monday to Friday - 7:30am to 5pm
Saturday - 10am to 5pm
Sunday - 10am to 5pm
May to August - Monday to Friday - 7:30am to 7pm
If you arrive in Xela during these business hours please come direcly to the school where you will be greeted and taken to your host family's home. If you arrive outside these hours please spend one night in a local hotel and then come to the school during normal businesses hours the next day.

Refund Policy - PLEASE READ
Our refund policy is as follows: Payment of your 1st week of tuition and corresponding registration fee are mandatory. If you are unable to attend for any reason, you can request a refund up until your arrival date. If you request a refund before your arrival date a 50% refund of your tuition payment (Registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE) will be issued. If you do not show up and do not make any attempt to cancel your reservation NO refund will be offered. You MUST contact us prior to your arrival date to receive a 50% refund.

Register
Our Registration
form is available online. One registration form along with a payment of either $U.S. $195.00 or $215.00 (Tuition +
registration fee) MUST be sent for each student.
You may fill out your application and make a reservation online through our secure server, by US Mail or by fax.
Payment methods are: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Money Order or Check.
Secure online Registration Form, or use our Printable Order Form which you can then send via Fax.

When your application and Fees have been received, you will receive an email confirmation of your reservation at the school. Please remember that simply requesting classes by email does not guarantee you a space in the school. |
